GoAskSam ("GoAskSam," "we," "us," or "our") explains what information we collect when you use goasksam.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Vehicle details you enter to get a recommendation — year, make, model, trim, condition, location, and asking price.
- Contact information, if you request an introduction to a PowerSeller or submit a listing lead — typically your name, email address, and phone number.
- Photos, if you choose to upload or attach images of your vehicle.
- Account information, if you sign in — your name and email address, obtained either through Google sign-in or a magic-link email, or through your existing subscription to The Daily Vroom (TDV) via Beehiiv.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data — searches performed, pages viewed, recommendations shown, and links or buttons clicked (including outbound clicks to a platform or PowerSeller).
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, and general device information, used for rate-limiting free searches and detecting abuse.
- Cookies — small pieces of data stored in your browser to keep you signed in, remember your session, and (where applicable) recognize invite or preview access. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.
1.3 Information from third parties
- If you're a subscriber to The Daily Vroom and sign in through that relationship, we receive your subscriber status and email from Beehiiv, our newsletter platform, to authenticate you and apply your subscriber benefits.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google, consistent with the permissions you approve at sign-in.
We do not purchase data about you from data brokers, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Generate a vehicle-selling recommendation based on real market data.
- Let you save, revisit, and manage a history of your searches.
- Connect you with a PowerSeller or a selling platform, if and only if you choose to request an introduction or click through to a listing page.
- Enforce free-tier search limits and protect the Service from automated abuse.
- Understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used, so we can improve it.
- Communicate with you about your account, a request you've made, or (if you've separately subscribed) The Daily Vroom newsletter.
We do not use your vehicle or personal information to train third-party AI models, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
3. When We Share Your Information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With a PowerSeller or platform, at your direction. If you request an introduction or choose to submit a listing, we share the details necessary to make that introduction — typically your vehicle information and your contact details — with the specific PowerSeller or platform you selected. We do not share this information with any PowerSeller or platform you did not choose.
- With service providers who help us operate the Service — for example, our database host (Supabase), our email delivery provider, and our newsletter platform (Beehiiv) — who are contractually restricted from using your data for any purpose other than providing that service to us.
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GoAskSam, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a business transfer — if GoAskSam is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same protections described here.
We never sell your personal information.
4. Market Data and Third-Party Sources
To generate recommendations, GoAskSam analyzes publicly available and licensed vehicle sales data from third-party sources (such as auction platforms and marketplaces). This market data is not information about you personally — it's aggregate and historical sales data used to power our recommendation engine. Our use of this data is separate from, and does not involve sharing, your personal information.
5. Data Retention
- Search history and saved results are retained for up to 90 days, unless you choose to "pin" a result to keep it longer.
- Account information is retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return.
- Introduction/lead requests are retained as needed to support the transaction you initiated and for our own recordkeeping.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting feedback@goasksam.com (see Section 7).
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies that are necessary for the Service to function — for example, keeping you signed in and applying the correct search limits to your account. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and correction. You can review and update your account information at any time.
- Deletion. You may request that we delete your account and associated data by contacting us at feedback@goasksam.com.
- Search history. You can delete individual saved searches, or all of them, from your account.
- California and other state privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what information we hold and to request its deletion. Contact us at feedback@goasksam.com to exercise these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Users
The Service is currently offered to sellers located in the United States. If we expand to other regions in the future, we will update this policy to reflect any additional protections that apply.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
